Job Duties and Responsibilities of Tax Advisor:
- Using Smartlook, you will communicate with customers virtually and perform your duties as a customer-facing assistant.
- If you have delegated your tax return to a professional, it is important to maintain regular communication with them so that you are fully aware of the progress of your tax preparation. This will allow you to stay informed and address any concerns or questions you may have along the way
- Utilize your expansive knowledge and deep empathy for customers to create exceptional customer interactions and experiences, particularly in the domain of business tax preparation and books-to-tax accounting entries.
- Deliver accurate solutions to customers by taking advantage of government websites, professional resources, and collective expertise while using plain language.
- Implement industry-approved practices, guidelines, and corporate standards to identify and resolve customer issues regarding tax advisory and filing procedures.
- Maintain a log of interactions with customers and work persistently to meet the firm's crucial performance metrics and primary objectives.
- Show a readiness to participate in pilot tests, projects, and validations to ensure success.
Qualifications and Experience of Tax Advisor:
- Possessing comprehensive knowledge of tax laws and substantial experience with business tax preparation, illustrated by a 3+ year background in preparing federal and state business tax returns (1065 and/or 1120-S) for no less than 20 clients/customers each season in exchange for remuneration, using commercial software for tax preparation.
- It is strongly advised to have a background in preparing personal taxes for a minimum of 2 seasons, handling at least 30 tax returns yearly in a professional tax practice or retail establishment for payment.
- A minimum schedule of 20 hours per week, in shifts of no less than 4 hours each, is required during the tax season.
- It is highly desirable for candidates to have experience in bookkeeping and a strong background in preparing books-to-tax documents.
- Those who have previously prepared tax returns for clients in the service sector are highly encouraged to apply.
- The ability to obtain all necessary state-issued licenses, certifications, permits, or guarantees is a prerequisite for this position.
- Possessing an active Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) is a requirement.
- Knowledge of Circular 230 is crucial for tax professionals to ensure they are in compliance with the ethical standards set forth by the IRS.
- Adept at managing and navigating various technological tools and software; extensive knowledge of computer operations.
- Advanced customer service skills - capable of utilizing video and audio tools to engage with customers in a friendly, professional, and self-assured manner.
- Displaying outstanding communication expertise, both in verbal and written form.
- Discriminating reasoning, troubleshooting abilities, exploratory aptitudes, and steadfastness.
- The aptitude to handle a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.
- An unwavering, hardwired internet connection that complies with Intuit's secure guidelines, and an uninterrupted, tranquil workplace are the prerequisites that are a must-have (or else, prepared to acquire).
