Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician
Job Summary of Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician:
As a Fleet Technician Apprentice at Sysco, you will support Fleet Technicians II and III in ensuring the safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency of our vehicle fleet. Under their guidance, you will learn to conduct preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, diagnose issues to prevent breakdowns, and contribute to enhancing overall fleet reliability.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician:
- Assist Fleet Technicians II and III in conducting preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Learn and perform FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Execute quality maintenance repairs on various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Address driver vehicle inspection report write-ups efficiently and accurately.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications.
- Document all work performed using prescribed formats.
- Develop proficiency in Sysco computer programs and tools under supervision.
Qualifications and Experience of Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medium/heavy-duty truck technical training preferred.
- No prior experience required; willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
- Possession of a current and valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
- Basic knowledge and skills in vehicle systems, electrical systems, welding, and computer usage.
- Must own and provide all necessary tools for maintenance inspections and repairs.
