Responsibilities
- Create and present weathercasts that are easy to understand and scientifically sound.
- Interpret meteorological data using advanced forecasting tools and communicate findings across various platforms.
- Engage in storytelling that connects weather patterns with community impact.
- Participate in field reporting to capture important local weather stories.
- Monitor and respond to breaking weather news with urgency and professionalism.
- Collaborate with newsroom staff to ensure seamless integration of weather content into broader news coverage.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience forecasting and presenting weathercasts, with working knowledge of TV weather graphics systems.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in synoptic meteorology, radar, and tropical weather systems.
- Skills: Strong multitasking and deadline management abilities, with a proactive approach to breaking news.
- Abilities: Capable of engaging the community and traveling for news coverage; able to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Preferred: National Weather Association (NWA) or AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal; knowledge of newsroom and editing software.

Salary
The base pay for this position generally ranges from $20.00 to $33.85 per hour. Actual compensation is based on several factors including experience, qualifications.
