Job Summary of General Manager:

This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations while leading and developing a high performing team. The position plays a key part in driving exceptional customer satisfaction, ensuring food quality, and creating a positive, engaging work environment. A strong focus is placed on team development, operational standards, and strategic communication to maintain Whataburger's high brand expectations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of General Manager:

  • Lead restaurant operations with a focus on food quality, customer satisfaction, and team development.
  • Uphold food safety and quality standards, ensuring no expired products or improper holding practices.
  • Communicate operational concerns to Area Manager and implement timely solutions.
  • Maintain rigorous cleaning and sanitation protocols, including twice-weekly boil outs and 12-hour oil filtration cycles.
  • Approve vendor orders and oversee inventory to ensure accuracy and minimize waste.
  • Ensure all employees meet uniform standards; non-compliance results in immediate action.
  • Schedule and manage staffing levels according to volume and operational needs.
  • Perform daily table touches and ensure guests leave “Highly Satisfied.”
  • Ensure timely bank deposits are made three times daily without exception.
  • Verify that new hires complete all onboarding requirements before issuing uniforms.

Qualifications and Experience of General Manager:

  • Previous experience in restaurant or hospitality management preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices and health code compliance.
  • Experience with inventory management and vendor ordering systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Effective communication and conflict-resolution skills, especially under pressure.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire team members with a focus on collaboration and unity.
  • Strong leadership presence and attention to detail in maintaining operational standards.
  • Open-minded, approachable, and committed to fostering a positive team culture.
  • Ability to stay focused and organized in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
